Manchester Christmas Markets

If you live near Manchester you would have definitely heard about the german markets that are held every year in manchester towards christmas. The markets are made up of a variety of stalls sellings gifts, food, beverages and more, my favorite stall was obviously the one selling alpaca things. It's the perfect place to go with friends or on a nice little date. I would consider the fact the markets are extremely popular so they tend to get busy, so if possible I would definitely avoid weekends and go during the week. if you can make it to the markets at night I'd highly recommend going in the evening as it's beautiful in the evening.
If you're friend's are anything like mine they love nothing more than a drink and an excuse to take pictures, which the markets are perfect for. They are also perfect for your friends to bump into a previous male interest like one of my friends did which definitely  made the night a little more eventful. The markets are filled with twinkly lights so no matter what your picture will always look super cute and christmassy in the evening. There's a nice variety of german drinks to sample from a traditional larger to cherry or black, don't worry if you're not a drinker as they have a great hot chocolate and a non-alcoholic christmas punch. If you do go to the markets for drinks, you do have to pay a deposit for cups and glasses. I'm not sure what the price for mugs were but it was a £1 deposit for a glass.

While at the markets I did try a couple of the food options available, the first thing we tried was a yorkshire pudding wrap, which is even better than it sounds. They have a couple of options available if you want to sample the wraps you can get a wrap with one meat or three, the meats available are beef, pork and chicken or you can get a veggie wrap which doesn't include meat but vegetarian friendly sausages. You can also have stuffing, veg and gravy. The cost for the wrap is £6 for either one meat or the veggie wrap and £6.50 for the three meats. I'd definitely recommend the wraps out of all the food there, if you do fancy trying the wraps the stall to buy them from is located near the corn exchange.
Along with the wraps we tried cookie dough and cream, this was my favourite food item of the night. Cookie dough can sometimes be very sickly which means you can only eat a little bit without feeling sick but me and my boyfriend were able to finish the entire thing. What impressed me the most about the cookie dough was the fact my boyfriend who can't finish a small brownie without feeling sick managed to eat three quarters of it and want more. Throughout the market there are a couple of stalls selling cookie dough, we got the double choc cookie dough with cream and salted caramel for £4.50, which for the taste of it was definitely worth the money. To finish off the night we decided to try a soft salted pretzel for £2 which was the best pretzel I'd ever tasted. Out of all the drinks and food we tried I'd definitely say the pretzel was the best value.

So all in all I would highly recommend taking a trip to the markets whether its to sample the food and drink or to get some unique presents and decorations, there's definitely something for everyone there.
