First Date Ideas

I've been single for over a year now and in that time I've been invited on a couple of dates but some of them have been terrible ideas, for some people they would be amazing first dates but for me they really weren't. First dates should be fun for both involved, it shouldn't just be an awkward encounter or feel forced. All dates should be fun whether it's a first date or a date night for a long term relationship.

A great idea would be a cooking class, cooking is always a great alternative to going out for food or drinks. Although, bringing people to your house for the first date can sometimes be a bit awkward a great alternative is going to a cooking class.

Another date idea is visiting a food festival. You can walk around and try different foods and snacks. It's a great way to get to know what kind of foods you both love and hate. It also gives you the chance to see what the other person is like in crowded setting.

One of my favourite date ideas is a visit to a theme park. I love rollercoasters, the rides are super fun and the lines give you the perfect opportunity to get to know each other and talk. If you run out of things to talk about there's plenty of things to talk about at a theme park, you can literally talk about the rides if you have nothing else to talk about. Theme parks are full of different things to do not just rides, there's always arcade games to play and different foods to eat.

Coffee is always a good date idea but sitting in a coffee shop can get a bit boring. A great alternative is getting a coffee to go and taking a walk around a park with the coffee. A walk in the park is always great so why not combine the two dates, and there,s always dogs in the park.

A trip to the beach is one of my favourite date ideas. The beach is one of my favourite places, I love how relaxing it is. There's so many things you can do at the beach, you can just sit and talk, take a walk along the beach or even take a picnic with you.

If you both love animals a great date idea would be a trip to a petting zoo or just the zoo. The variety of animals means you won't run out of things to talk about. The zoo is a very stress free date, you don't want any stress on a date so picking an activity that that minimises any stress is always a good choice. The zoo is also a super casual first date and sometimes a casual first date is the best kind.

A simple first date is bowling. If things feel awkward you can always have a drink and just laugh at the terrible bowling shoes you have to wear. It doesn't matter if you're terrible at bowling because it's usually more fun if you completely suck at it.

Another favourite date idea for me would be ice skating. I love ice skating and I find it so fun. It's a great excuse to hold hands and you can laugh at each other if you struggle to actually do it. You can sit down and have a hot chocolate after ice skating and get to know each other a little better. If ice skating isn't for you then you can always go rollerskating

What are your favourite date ideas? do you prefer a more casual date like the zoo or the opposite like a meal at a fancy restaurant? let me know your favourite ideas!
